http://scallywagandvagabond.com/2011/11/naked-woman-climbs-inside-gutted-horse-because-she-wanted-to-be-at-one-with-the-horse/2/

This is a very.. disturbing story. A family's horse died of natural causes, and then they butchered it and ate it's meat. But that isn't even the disturbing part. The death of this horse really upset the family's 21 year old daughter, so.. her and her boyfriend decided to take pictures of the girl inside of the horse. She didn't have any clothes on, and climbed right inside of the horse. In one of the pictures she's all covered in blood and she's holding the heart, then another with her boyfriend doing the same. In another picture she's eating some of the raw meat from the horse. The 21 year old women is receiving death threats but she says she just wanted to be one with the horse, also she wanted to be like Luke Skywalker.

A story that I thought that was kind of ironic considering what season were in was titked california teen stuck in chimney. it was brief but the content was unsual and enough for me to want to read it. The story was about a teen who was going to miss his curfew, and fearing the wrath of his parents, tryed climbing down the chimney and got stuck. The family called the police to complain about sounds they kept hearing out of their chimney, and firefighters found him and got him out, unhurt but very dirty and embrarrassed. I thought it was funny how the writer said this guy was no santa trying to deliver holiday gifts.
Another story that I thought was interesting was a story about a group in Cairo, where any religion can sit at this coffee shop and talk baout stereotypes and tell if they are right or are not. I thought this was very nice to hear;that their is a coffee shop deicated to ending stereootypes to religions in Cairo.

The story I read this week was ‘"Contagious" Yawning Occurs More Among Loved Ones’. The title of the story immediately caught my attention. I thought the lead was also really effective in this story because it was creative and caught my attention right away too:

“Call it the finding that puts the "aw" in yawn—scientists have discovered that people yawn more in response to the yawns of people they care about most.”

The story said that scientist believe that people yawn more around people that care most about. The rate at which people yawn contagiously is highest around family, then friends, then acquaintances, then strangers. This applies only to contagious yawning. Contagious yawning is a psychological effect that happens in response to hearing, seeing, or reading about yawning instead of being a result of stress, boredom, or fatigue (more common type of yawning).

Scientists have conducted many tests and observations on this topic testing different variables such as the subjects’ relationships to one another, gender, and style of yawning. They do not know for sure why people yawn more around loved one but they do have some good guesses. One of these theories is that people pay more attention to people they are closer to and so they subconsciously notice when they yawn more often.

I also read a story about two new species of frogs that were found. Both were smaller than an M&M. These frogs are the smallest species found yet and they open up the possibility of even smaller species. I thought that was really interesting as well.

This week I chose to do an article taking place at a high school pep rally. Titled “Parental Pep Rally Kissing Game Creates Uproar in Minnesota,” I found it on the Yahoo! feed.

A pep rally at Rosemont High School in Minnesota had quite the prank. Student captains of winter sports were blindfolded and told that “a special someone” would kiss them. Afterwards, the students had to guess who their mystery kisser was.

It turned out that the “special someones” were actually just the captains’ opposite sex parent.

Some parents kissed their sons/ daughters for a few seconds while swaying or hugging. Others really got into the role-playing. One mom moved her son’s hand down to her butt and another pinned her son down on the gym floor.

Some people in attendance later notified the principal that they were offended and disturbed by the prank. Interestingly, none of the parents or students involved in the prank complained.

The principal commented on the sketch and the negative reactions.
“Anything that happens at this school is the principal’s responsibility. I take full responsibility…There shouldn’t be an event in a school that we offend people with.”

This type of story is definitely a human interest piece. The headline caught my attention as I scrolled through all the articles. The prank was definitely inappropriate. Having a makeout session with your mom or dad in front of the whole school would be gross and embarassing. It surprises me that the principal would allow this kind of prank to take place. The whole thing was risky and the captains could have been easily taken it the wrong way.

This past week, the most notable article was that of Lowes pulling all their advertisements for The Learning Channel's show All American Muslim, which focuses on 5 Muslim families in Dearborn, Michigan. The reasoning is because of concerns raised by customers in e-mails, a movement propelled by the Florida Family Association, a Christian-based group supporting all the stereotypes that other political groups with the word 'Family' in them seem to enforce. Seriously, these groups are so popular and their social views so poor, I feel that the KKK should become the 'Ku Klux Family' to keep with the times. Back to the Lowe's incident, many groups and Democrat congressmen have commented and sent e-mails in a muck of outrage protesting their decision and petitioning they return to advertising on the show.
For a political arrest of the week, Tea Party Patriots co-founder Mark Meckler was arrested in New York Thursday for illegal possession of a handgun, which he only has a California license for. At that point, he could have faced up to 15 years in prison. In this case, I would (very unfortunately) have to side on his side of the case, as he legally bought the gun and legally has a license for it. In a subsequent article, I recall that he ran away from CBS cameras, bolting across an infamous street known as the ‘Boulevard of Death’, as some 140-ish people have died trying to cross it.

I read a story that was based off a survey. It was found that 1 in 3 women have experienced sexual assault, physical violence or stalking by an intimate partner during their lifetime and the same for 1 in 4 men. I saw this and read it because I saw the headline "Survey: 1 in 3 women affected by partner's violent behavior" and was surprized at how much somthing terrible like this happens. This story was full of statistics that show that this actually is a big problem. It kind of makes me scared of something like this happening to me. I know that I'm definetly going to be careful with the people I choose now and in the future.

Big shots stumble when disscussing black youth

recently the GOP presidental contender Newt Gingrich suggester hiring poor children as janitors in schools so they could learn work ethic and avoid becomming prostitutes and drug dealers. a guy named Gene Marks was somewhat a part of this and wrote an article saying "if i were a poor black kid" this article got national attention with mark saying things like "i am not a poor black kid i am a middle-aged white man who comes from a middle class white background." and saying so life was easier for him. he also was stating how he'd more of an effort for education purposes. commenters say he had his title of his article "if i were a poor black kid" to get more web hits when people thought it was racist, by both blacks and whites.

I read a story called "California teen gets 21 years for killing gay student".
It was about a 17-year-old high school student, Brandon McInerney, who pleaded guilty to killing a gay classmate. On Monday he was sentenced to 21 years in prison. When he was 14, he brought a handgun and shot the 15-year-old King twice in the back of his head while King was in his English class typing papers in a computer lab. Some students said McInerney felt harassed because King had a crush on him and made it publicly known.
Brandon McInerney will serve time in a juvenile detention center until he turns 18. Then he will be transferred to the custody of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
I found it surprising that it took the tribunal so long to make a decision on McInerneys jail-time. There is no second opinion. He destroyed a whole family with his action and he deserves the maximum sentence.
